Ebooks on iPhone (at last)

Today seems to be chocked-full of spicy ebook tidbits…
There has been some talk about the possibility of ebooks on the iPhone, however Mike Cane has linked to some nice examples of not only books, but graphic novels, as read on the iPhone’s super-sexy screen.

All I can say is… wow. Wow, wow, wow.

New Cybook: Sony, you got served!

As you all know by now, I’m a devoted Sony Reader junkie, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like me some spicy ebook news. Like many of you, I’ve been waiting anxiously for updates about the new Cybook. Judging from the new info, the Cybook Gen3 (which will be out this very September) should be [...]

Harry Potter and the Crying Humanist

Well, ok… this isn’t exactly “news” but whatever.
So, I’m not done with HP7 yet, however I’m on page 500 or so and J.K. Rowling has already made me cry three times. I’m not going to say at what parts for two reasons:

I don’t want to spoil anything,
It’s kind of embarrassing that Harry Potter books make [...]

The Simpsonized Humanist

Wow. I can’t believe it’s been almost a week since I last posted. Luckily, not too much dust has gathered on this blog–at least I don’t think so, anyway. For those of you who might be interested, rest assured that your Grumpy Humanist has not been up to anything spectacularly interesting these past few days, [...]

Retail Therapy for Pottermaniacs

Like a lot of you, I’ve lately been wondering about the really important questions.
Questions like, “Will Harry live or die? Is Severus Snape good or evil? Will Ron and Hermione become a couple and live happily ever after?“
It’s not easy being a Potter fan in this time of tension and speculation. Luckily, we can always [...]

Can they even dye my Wii to match my gown?

Uh-huh.

Right. I’ll try to keep the random Wizard of Oz references to a minimum for the rest of the post, I swear.
Anyway, this morning I found out from the always-informative Sickr that a “new and improved” Wii should be available this very winter. So what are the improvements to come, you ask? Will the new [...]

Fun with Fundies: Harry Potter edition

It’s that time once again. I’m sure you know that we’re just a few weeks away from the seventh and final installment of the Harry Potter series. Whether you are a fan or not, it’s hard to miss the big cardboard displays at your local bookstore.
Soon, there’ll be throngs of impressionable children getting all hot [...]

My Chimp is smarter than your 5th Grader

According to Primatology.net (a sister site to our friends at Anthropology.net) a study by Ohio State University has found that so-called “enculturated chimps” have enhanced “cognitive abilities, as measured by their ability to understand how to rake” compared to other chimps.
Yes, you read that right–raking. But it’s actually a really clever experiment. And, anyway, there’s [...]

Tommy Chong, will you be my baby daddy?

The ever-interesting Scholars and Rogues found an awesome vid of Tommy Chong putting the smack-down on that snarky bastard Neil Cavuto. The best part is when Cavuto behaves like the lame-ass he is and asks Chong if he’s “smoked anything” today. Chong replies that Cavuto might want to try it sometime–it’ll “open [his] eyes.”

I guess [...]

What the F#%! is a Zorse?

Half-horse, half-zebra… all awesome.

It seems this interesting little creature “will never be accepted by the zebras in the park, so they’re looking for a male pony” to be her boyfriend. Damn snobbby zebras.
